With summer just around the corner, here are some handy tips to get your property summer-ready, and to keep our public parks and greenspaces looking great!
- Take advantage of the early-summer season and get a jump on completing your property’s landscaping! By completing your front, side and rear-yard landscaping as soon as you can, you’re beautifying your property, and Mahogany as a whole
- Pick up garbage and pet waste from your yard that may have been left behind by Old Man Winter – and don’t forget to collect garbage that may have settled between your house and your neighbours’
- When walking your dog, be sure to carry a pet waste bag with you and clean up after your four-legged friend immediately. This keeps our parks and green spaces clean and safe for others to enjoy!
- Rake up any dead grass and leaves from your property, and remove any dead leaves and stalks from perennials and ornamental grasses – this will help your grass and flower beds grow more quickly and healthily
- Mow your lawn regularly – this discourages undesirable grasses and weeds, while keeping your yard looking great!
- Keep your lawn green by watering regularly. We recommend watering early in the morning or after it cools off in the evening, and giving your lawn at least one inch of water per week
- Trim hedges, trees and shrubs on your property – but be careful not to cut or prune City trees
- Keep things tidy! Keep yard waste, loose garbage, bottles, cans and boxes stored out of sight so that your beautiful yard and home – and not your recycling – are on display!
